It really goes to show that Rockstar doesn’t mess around with narratives or presentation in videogames. You don’t really have to play any of the previous games in the series, all you know that Max has had a rough couple of years. You’re just engrossed in this tortured man’s story all the way from start to finished. Of course there is the gameplay which feels like the old games with the bullet time dodging but with some modern mechanics such as cover. Every fire fight that you get into is really intense with a lot environmental destruction and enemies trying to flank you. Of course there is the voice acting of James McCaffrey who really helps flesh out Max’s character than ever before. Then there is the awesome soundtrack that noise rock band HEALTH put together for the game. But of course there some problems like moving around in small areas, getting trapped in the environment, carrying only three and weapons at a time. Then there is the visual presentation which might burn the eyes of some gamers; seriously, a lot of visual distortion in the game almost got to me at some parts. That being said, I really enjoyed the game; not many games can really pull you into the psyche of the main character while providing a excellent shooting mechanics.
